Meet the babies

The animals of Haven Farm

Humphrey, Founder

6 years old, male

Humphrey has always been a fighter. He was found at just 3-months-old locked in a cage on a construction site in LA and was transported to Indianapolis by the Indiana House Rabbit Society (IHRS). At our meet and greet with Humphrey, he was digging at the corners of his pen, chewing on everything he could find, and jumping everywhere. We knew instantly he was the spunky little guy for us. As we mention on the ‘Our Story’ page, Humphrey was the bun who changed our view on animals and their unique personalities. He is one of the main reasons for our pursuit of animal welfare.

Humphrey spent 5 and a half wonderful years living with us, enjoying greens fresh from the garden, cuddling with his wifey, Roo, and remaining grumpy, opinionated, and cuddly till then end. After a long battle with a disease called E cuniculi, Humphrey passed away in December 2023, just a week after the launch of Haven Farm. He fought to the end and showed us all the beauty of caring for animals. He’s the reason Haven Farm exists.

Roo, 5 years old, female

While Barry was petting a rabbit at the IHRS adoption center, another bunny jumped in from a neighboring pen. This acrobatic adventurer was the second creature to join our family, Roo. But we didn’t choose Roo; Humphrey did! Did you know bonding rabbits is a complicated process and it goes best when they have the chance to “date” first? Well, Humphrey and Roo fell in love on their first date and have been cuddling ever since. Roo enjoys going from zero to 100, she is either zooming around the living room or she is legs-out relaxing near her husbun.

Cleo, 3 years old, female

Cleo knows you’re coming to visit before you get here and will greet you with face licks whether you want them or not. We rescued our extremely friendly farm pup with help from Redemption Rescue. What is her breed, you ask? Isn’t it obvious? She’s a classic mix of American Pit Bull Terrier, Chow Chow, Beagle, Boxer, German Shepherd, Border Collie, Pekingese, and something apparently called “Supermutt.”

The Phoenixes, 1-year-olds

Rescued from a factory farm in Bloomington by the Pipsqueekery, these girls are super friendly and sweet. They have been healing their feathers and skin since April 2023 and are now beautifully thriving.

Athena, Aphrodite, Lotus, Gal, and Belle

The OG chickens, 5 years old

Chester the Rooster, Large and in-charge Marge, Scarlet, Kelly, and Chelsea, make up our original flock of 5. They love to roost together in the coop at night and follow each other around to free range.

Maggie, 4 years old, female

For anyone who is sassy on the outside but is a big cuddle bug on the inside, Maggie is your spirit animal. Maggie LOVES attention. She will come up and stand right by you until you pet her. We love our sweet ‘Maggles’.

Puddles, 1 year old female

Puddles came to us extremely scared at the slight movement of us trying to give her treats. A year later after bonding with her baby brother Po, she is our new Alpha. She is fierce ad stands up to all the other big pigs. She isn’t shy to come over for pets and belly rubs and will promptly fall asleep where you pet her.

Po, 1 year old, male

Two weeks after adopting Puddles, we couldn’t stop thinking about this little rolly poly we met at Oinking Acres and went back to bring him home. Po is extremely sweet and affectionate, you will know he’s about to flop when he sticks his tail up and stands right next to you. He loves to sniff you when you come up to him and loves treats, he’ll often jump, yes, literally jump, over the other pigs to get his treat!

Marty, 6 years old, male

Our biggest piggy Marty is a simple guy. He loves to be pet and loves to eat grass and hickory nuts out in the field. Don’t you dare mess with his blankets though. He takes napping very seriously and he’ll honk at you about it. He loves his mate, Dorris.

Dorris, 5 years old, female

Not many pigs get to be with their piglets all their life, but Dorris does! Dorris was rescued with her two babies Beans and Cornbread and they all have similar treat-driven personalities. You’ll find sweet mama Dorris cuddling exclusively with Marty (they’re a thing).

Beans and Cornbread, 3 years old, males

Beans and Cornbread are thick as thieves. Beans is our Alpha in the herd and Cornbread, his trusty sidekick. Both boys like to be pet occasionally when they’re not cuddling together or trying to find a way to break free of the fencing and go on an adventure.
